• ID4Africa is a multi-stakeholder movement that promotes the transparent and responsible adoption of digital identity in the service of development in Africa. The aim is to share experience and establish real world best practices that set the correct expectations for what is involved in launching and sustaining successful identity programs. Our Annual Event is a ID4Africa Forum and Expo, this year was held in Kigali, Rwanda May 24-26, 2016. Next year the event will be held in Windhoek, Namibia. ID4Africa's Mission is to promote legal identity for all in Africa as a driver for social and economic development. Our mission includes 5 specific modules of activities: 1. Promote the responsible adoption of digital identity in order to enhance people's lives by empowering them to claim and exercise their rights with dignity and respect. 2. Promote access to knowledge and information by identity stakeholders so that policies and investments about identity systems are informed and based on sound evidence. 3. Promote South-South knowledge transfer related to identity in order to better understand the practical implications of different options depending on context. 4. Promote the emergence of a robust commercial identity marketplace, allowing vendors, products, solutions, & technologies to complete for the benefit of Africa. 5. Organize in Africa an annual meeting, accessible to all African Nations, to engage and discuss identity matters and layout an annual agenda.
