• Mission Statement To be a definite source for all researchers in Northeastern Pennsylvania from the earliest records to the present. To instill an interest in genealogy by promoting the grandeur of the past and the magnitude of our heritage. To provide quality workshops and research assistance in person, by e-mail, mail, phone and fax. To acquire or copy and digitize an in-house database of all existing genealogical records within the counties of Lackawanna, Luzerne, Pike, Susquehanna and Wayne in Northeastern Pennsylvania. To provide a centrally located complete research facility with a microfilm room, library area and quality equipment staffed by helpful and knowledgeable volunteers. To provide computer matching service for surnames and kinships. Listing the resources available at GRSNPs Research Library is an extremely difficult task. Much material has been accumulated in the past 15 years of the societys existence. Being an all-volunteer society it is hard to catalog everything that has come into the society and is on our shelves onto one webpage. We are constantly scanning the material at GRSNP so that an in-house search will yield an easy listing of in-house information on a surname. . GRSNP also has a collection of books of the history of the Lackawanna and the surrounding counties along with books that have been donated that have been written about the area. Germans to America is a collection that can be found at GRSNP as are limited years of mining books printed by the State of Pennsylvania. If you are planning a visit to GRSNP and have specific research you would like to do, it is recommended that you call ahead to see if we have the material that you would like to research or if we have alternate material that might be of interest to you.
