• Our Mission is to create jobs, expand businesses and provide training in the growing green economy so families throughout the region can achieve economic self-sufficiency while creating more sustainable communities.Our goal is to create 100 new, green, well-paying jobs over the next four years.Greater Bridgeport Community Enterprises (GBCE) is poised for rapid growth and expansion into new initiatives comprising a multi-pronged strategy to of creating sustaining green jobs: jobs are the economic imperative for Bridgeport. The largest city in Connecticut, Bridgeport is a distressed urban area facing multiple challenges including poverty, unemployment, underfunded schools, deteriorating neighborhoods, and business stagnation. A good job provides multiple cascading advantages and effects: it helps families become economically self-sufficient and helps break the cycle of poverty for generations to come. We estimate that the 100 new jobs we create will pump as much as $1.8 million into Bridgeports struggling neighborhood economies.
