• The Augusta Greenway Alliance is a 501(c)3-type nonprofit seeking to enhance communities with sustainable mobility and development. We foster Smart Growth and alternative, green transportation; thereby promoting economic, environmental and social sustainability.Our first major initiative advocated an ultra-low-carbon transportation corridor through the heart of Augusta, Georgia, fostering greater economic interaction between the Medical District and Downtown Augusta. As envisioned, it would link Georgia Regent's Universitys remote campuses, Paine College, the Medical District, the Augusta Canal Trails and Downtown Augusta. This green transportation corridor would merge low speed electric vehicles (LSVs) with bicycles, creating a new, highly-functional genre of greenway, coined an Augusta Greenway. The Alliance is now working with the University of Arkansas Technology and Development Foundation to launch an LSV-based R&D Program, dubbed RAZOR, for Renewable, Alternative, Zero-carbon-transport Observation and Research. Initially, the program strives to deliver an ultra-low-carbon mobility service to the UA campus vicinity, and a significant step forward in the Universitys Climate Action Plan. This mobility service is called Sustainable Urban Mobility (SUM).
