• Notre Dame of Maryland University is a Catholic, liberal arts institution committed to educating women as leaders. Founded and sponsored by the School Sisters of Notre Dame (SSND), Notre Dame was established as a four- year college in 1895. Notre Dame of Maryland was the first Catholic college for women in the United States to award the four-year baccalaureate degree. In 2011 it attained university status and changed its name from the College of Notre Dame to Notre Dame of Maryland University.Located on the North Charles Street college corridor in northern Baltimore, Notre Dames beautiful campus is situated on 58 wooded acres in a residential area. The University also holds classes at sites in Anne Arundel, Harford and St. Marys counties for part-time students. The Universitys values-centered curriculum emphasizes the students total development: intellectual, professional, social and spiritual. Notre Dame students and faculty members come from a variety of backgrounds, bringing diverse perspectives to the academic community.
