• Beyond Differences is a non-profit organization founded in 2010 dedicated to ending social isolation among students in middle school. Beyond Differences believes that all teens should feel included, valued and accepted by their peers. Our organization provides leadership programs and training for all Beyond Differences student leaders. We have written and published original curriculum for classroom teachers and for club meetings. We also provide students ideas and materials to run fun yet meaningful special event activities in their schools designed to make everyone feel welcome! National No One Eats Alone Day No One Eats Alone is a student organized, one-day special event that takes place during lunch at school where middle school student leaders create and plan a fun party with a special meaning in order to demonstrate that no one should eat alone and everyone can have fun meeting and making new friends. In 2015, over 500 schools in 30 states are participating on Friday, February 13th with an overall reach to over 300,000 students across the country. We translate student leadership into action. Teens are actually changing the way entire school campuses think about social isolation and loneliness. We are fundamentally improving the experience of middle school for students across the country, creating more inclusive communities where young people feel like they belong, are valued and are accepted no matter what their individual differences. We are a student-led organization. Adolescents, especially young ones in middle school, respond to positive behavior and role modeling that is taught by high school students. Beyond Differences trains students to be agents of change for a more inclusive middle school culture.
