• Every Child By Two, Carter/Bumpers Champions for Immunization (ECBT), is a nonprofit organization founded in 1991 by Former First Lady Rosalynn Carter and Former First Lady of Arkansas Betty Bumpers, as a response to the U.S. measles epidemic which killed 150 people, many of them young children. Through successful collaborations with national, state and local immunization partners since the organizations inception in 1991, ECBT has made enormous strides towards removing immunization delivery barriers; reducing ethnic and racial disparities; educating the public about the importance of timely immunizations and the safety of vaccines; and supporting the development of sound public health policies.In 2015 ECBT expanded its mission to include people of all ages. As part of that expanded mission, ECBT replaced their popular Vaccinate Your Baby website and Facebook page (which reached nearly seven million followers annually) with a new Vaccinate Your Family website and Facebook page in an effort to help to educate people of all ages about the importance of vaccinating against a number of disease that will impact them at different times throughout their lives. With the launch of this new initiative, ECBT is highlighting a number of new resources to promote the importance of vaccinating grandparents against influenza and whooping cough (also known as pertussis) in an effort to protect those too young to be fully vaccinated, and those who may be immune-compromised.
