Becoming One Community Foundation

Description

• The Becoming One Community Foundation offers a comprehensive set of programs which aid in the reentry of our ex-offenders back into their communities. Our programs are based upon the whole persons experience within the community. The programs offered are as followed: Job Search Preparation; Financial Management; Healthy Living; Know Your Rights; and Housing Assistance. After the completion of our comprehensive collection of programs, our goal is for our clients to become successfully empowered and will be invited to enroll in our Community Ambassador program. This is a mentoring program where those graduates will become mentors within their community. On a daily basis, individuals are being released from the penal system with little or no knowledge of what they are facing in todays new world. Those individuals are the sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, mothers, and fathers of our community. Fear is a common denominator among these individuals. The fear of not finding a job, fear of not being fully accepted as a part of the community is valid and must be addressed. Without concern for these individuals, there will be an increase in drug usage; depression; and the rate of recidivism of ex-offenders. Building those bridges to successfully empower both its clients and target community is the focus of our organization. Our target community which consists of businesses, hiring managers, churches, mosques, synagogues; laypersons who exhibit a passion for reintegrating ex offenders, and other social service organizations. This is where community support will empower our ex-offenders thereby creating positive contributors to society. In conclusion, our service will contribute to bridging the gap between the ex offender and the rest of the community. Also this will uplift the community and make it a better place for all, creating the vision of Becoming One Community!
