• In the early hours of January 2011 musician Frankie Campagna, of Spector 45, took his life. A couple of months later his bass player, Adam Carter, did the same. Since that time we've lost a dozen others who have graced the stages of Dallas venues to this same choice. Foundation 45 is here because some of our friends aren't any more. We fund no cost counseling to musicians, artists, creatives of Dallas, and the people of the Deep Ellum community. Whether it's addiction, depression, suicide ideation, anxiety, or just need to talk, we have a program. We also reach out to those left behind by the final choice of others. Many people in this community don't have access to the usual care systems the majority of others do. Foundation 45, through the It's B.S. (Breaking Stigma) program are trying to educate the populace about mental health. We want those suffering to know it's ok, their family to know that getting help is important, and to create an environment where our community feels welcome. We don't have images of coffee drinkers and khaki pants. Our people have tattoos and piercings, wear black often, and cuss. Our invitations speak to the streets and our counseling environments are meant to feel like home. Since our larger public presence since May of 2016, we have seen our counseling services grow to 800%, and we're just scratching the surface. Our team is currently an all volunteer staff who work 20 hours a week on top of their full time jobs. Our expectation is to have group sessions every day and the ability to offer some individual counseling, have a space that can be ours to create, and keep working with Mental Health professionals to ensure our artists can maintain their creative edge while balancing out their mind and lives. We want them to live fast and die slow.
