- The San Diego Hunger Coalition (SDHC) believes all people deserve the food they need to live with dignity. We fight to eliminate hunger by working collaboratively with those concerned about hunger.Our priorities are to increase participation in federal food programs and engage the community in advocating for innovative policy and system change at the local, state, and federal level.The San Diego Hunger Coalition mission is to build a successful anti-hunger network that eliminates food insecurity in San Diego County.The SDHC accomplishes this by:Ensuring maximum participation in and effectiveness of available food security resources (CalFresh, school nutrition & WIC, senior nutrition)Convening and educating anti-hunger organizations to increase collaboration and communication between them and access to affordable and nutritious foods for those facing hungerPartner with appropriate stakeholders to make a sustainable food systemDeveloping and encouraging new food system anti-hunger partners from the communityConducting and facilitating advocacy to shape public opinion and policy at local, state and federal levels.
