• Give a Note Foundations mission is to expand and increase music education opportunities for all children, especially those in low-wealth and underserved areas. Through strategic partnerships and grassroots campaigns, Give a Note Foundation connects musicians, teachers, students, policymakers, and community members and empowers them to fight for music education in childrens lives. Give a Note Foundation was founded in June 2011 by leaders of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME). For more than 105 years, NAfME has worked to ensure that all children have access to a high-quality, comprehensive, sequential music education. NAfME has a network of more than 100,000 members in 52 federated state associations who connect with more than 20 million children and their families. The creation of the Give a Note Foundation comes at a time when music programs across the United States are increasingly threatened by everything from budget cuts to classroom time reduction to a national policy agenda that prioritizes a few tested subjects over those that power 21st-century skill development and ready students for creative participation in a mile-a-minute, ever-evolving workforce. NAfME leaders took action to form a charitable social advocacy organization to bring together everyone who cares about music education. Give a Note allows supporters to speak with one strong voice to promote, protect, and preserve music education programs for all children.
