- Manufacturing Renaissance is a Chicago based nonprofit nonpartisan organization, founded in 1982 by Dan Swinney, who continues to serve as the Executive Director. Mission: Manufacturing Renaissance builds thriving sustainable communities by connecting them to manufacturing through education, training and local ownership. Vision: Flourishing communities based on sustainable and socially inclusive economic development. Our signature programs are the Chicagoland Manufacturing Renaissance Council, Manufacturing Connect, MR Group and the Ownership Conversion Project. Our advocacy, community engagement and education initiatives serve to develop an educational and economic infrastructure that meets the needs of both the manufacturing sector and communities. We believe manufacturing is a uniquely effective foundation for building, expanding and sustaining communities. MRs programs are designed as prototypes to inform, support, complement or serve the community at large.
