• Magpies & Peacocks, Inc. is a Nonprofit Design House (501c3 organization) based in Houston, Texas. Working with local designers, artists and students in the Houston area, we design and create unique curated up-cycled collections from donated fashion/accessories. The money raised from the sale of our collections benefits other community grassroots causes. We also partner with other nonprofits supplying design and public relations services. We are a non-profit that helps other non-profits. Our mission is to create an environment for positive change by nurturing arts education, keeping fashion out of landfill, and giving back to the Houston community. Our model rests on four pillars: Collaborate, Create, Educate and Invest. We build creative connections between local businesses, donors, artists, designers, educators and Houston area nonprofits. Collaborate Connecting local businesses, donors, artists, designers, and educators Create Producing up-cycled high quality, socially responsible products Educate Providing mentorship, raw materials, and support for up coming designers Invest Supporting local grassroots organizations and community development Collaboration with local educators, schools, colleges, businesses and other charities creates a much broader reach and can provide a far greater return and impact on the needs of our city. By empowering up and coming designers, we can support arts education in an immersive manner and build on the sustainable longterm platform needed to hone their talents. Providing quality raw materials to schools and colleges as part of their programs promotes sustainability, social responsibility and ethical practice systemically, and offers a budget friendly, creative solution to keeping fashion out of landfill! And lastly by raising essential funding and supporting local grassroots causes we can invest back into our community.
