    • Peter & Elizabeth Schmidt founded Schmidt Baking Company in 1886 from humble beginnings after immigrating to Baltimore from Germany. Through the years, Schmidt Baking has introduced quality products in the premium labels of Blue Ribbon white & Old Tyme wheat bread and rolls. Our 13 branches service the Mid Atlantic region with over 300 DSD routes. Schmidt Baking began a partnership with H&S Bakery in 2000 continuing the business from one family baker to another. In 2004 H&S Bakery acquired Schmidt Baking and added hearth baked bread and rolls to the existing product lines. Known as the variety baker, H&S Bakery now collaborates with Schmidt Baking Company to offer quality products throughout the Mid-Atlantic. Other brands now available to the market through H&S include Ultimate Grains, and Harvest Pride. Franchised labels produced by Schmidt include Roman Meal, Sunbeam, and Manischewitz.
