Maurice Lucas Foundation

Description

• The Maurice Lucas Foundation was founded in honor of Maurice Lucas and his legacy of service to the Portland community. Fans knew Maurice as The Enforcera five-time NBA All-Star, the original power forward, and former NBA champion Portland Trail Blazer and assistant coach. Portlanders remember Maurice for his character as much as his athletic achievements. He was passionate about giving back to his community and he lived that every day. He treated each person he met with respect. He was an active contributor to charitable organizations, and he volunteered countless hours to coaching and mentoring youth. The foundation stands as a continuance of Maurices dedication to empower Portlands youth with opportunities for positive developmental growth through sport. By inspiring and motivating middle school children to grow into active members of their community, ultimately, our programs benefit the community at-large. We provide mentorship and respect that lead to kids making good decisions and bettering their lives. The Maurice Lucas Foundation after school programs touch 6-8 grade kids at a pivotal time in their lives. The kids in these programs have new opportunitiesto get better grades, to communicate more effectively, to attend and finish high school, plan to go to college and to build a stronger community. By instilling the concept of critical core values, these children become more active parts of society.
