• Iona is a trusted expert on aging. We provide direct services, information and referrals, answers, and opportunities for older adults and their families throughout the Greater Washington, DC area. Since 1975, we have proudly worked hard to support a community that celebrates, values, respects, and protects the contributions and possibilities of every individual regardless of age, gender, income, ethnicity, faith, and sexual orientation. We welcome individuality and creativity.Our mission is to support people as they experience the challenges and opportunities of aging. We educate, advocate, and provide community-based services to help people age well and live well. Services range from fitness and wellness programs for active older adults to home delivered meals, long-term care planning, and care management for those in need of individualized and comprehensive care. In addition, Iona provides family consultation, a robust adult day program, counseling and support groups, art education, advocacy, and other social services. We also welcome any volunteers passionate about supporting their older neighbors. These programs and services enable older adults and families to adapt to the many opportunities and challenges of aging, whether cognitive, physical, financial, or emotional. At Iona, we strive to provide meaningful ways for all older adults to remain connected, healthy, and safe in their community. Last year, 30,000 older adults and family caregivers found information and education through Iona and more than 2,000 received services and support to improve the quality of their lives.
