Seattle Education Access

Description

• Education is more than a luxury; it is a responsibility that society owes to itself. Robin CookSEA fights poverty and homelessness by helping marginalized youth transition to local community colleges and four-year universities. We help youth whose educations have been derailed by poverty and trauma turn their college dreams into college degrees. We provide one on one social and educational support for enrolling and succeeding in college. We offer free academic advising, tutoring, mentoring, career counseling, and supplemental scholarships. Who we serve: Many of our students have been homeless; others are immigrants, foster youth, or single parents. What they share in common is a strong motivation to complete their educations and a lack of adequate resources to achieve their goals. Results: Our students are succeeding in college and leaving poverty behind, preparing to give back to society as professionals and leaders of the next generation. 90% of our students who start college with SEAs support graduate. Please read our latest annual report here: http://seattleeducationaccess.org/downloads/annualreports/SEA_2012_AnnualReport.pdf
