• Generation Teach partners with local schools to provide talented and diverse young people with summer teaching experiences to inspire and prepare them to pursue careers in urban teaching.BUILDING A MOVEMENTGeneration Teach was founded in 2014 as a response to the need that schools and teacher preparation programs expressed for a higher quality, more diverse, and better prepared pool of candidates going into urban schools. After a successful pilot in Denver, we grew to two schools sites in Denver and launched our program in Boston. Our goal is to build a national movement of diverse and talented young people entering our most important profession.BUILDING CAPACITY AND COMMITMENTWe recruit college and college-bound students to a Summer Teaching Fellowship designed to introduce them to the complex and intellectually demanding work of teaching and to challenge them as learners and leaders. We invite Fellows to complete multiple summers with us. Our hope is that these early experiences in urban education shape talented young peoples decisions to pursue careers in teaching while preparing them for the rigors of the profession.BUILDING PIPELINES AND PARTNERSHIPSWe believe that teacher development should start earlier and occur in concert with schools. Our summer teaching fellowships are hosted by local district and charter schools that share our commitment to building a strong pipeline of local talent by investing early in potential teachers who reflect the diversity of the students we serve. We provide differentiated pathways into teaching through partnerships with schools and teacher education programs.
