Lions in Four is a globally-minded, socially conscious, affordable luxury brand; a modern company with a rich, old soul. We work artfully to create versatile accessories that empower women to refine their wardrobes through pieces that offer beauty, form and function. Women artisans in the hillsides of Kerala, India create the hand-dyed, raw silks we use in our collections, our upholstery-grade recycled leather is of the highest quality, and our Italian eco-suede can also be found on the seats of Porsche and Maserati. Lions in Four was established to empower the girls and women of south India by creating industry demand for the beautiful textiles they create. We work in partnership with We CARE of India, a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) founded in 2006 by Lions in Four's founder Julie Martin, to support an orphanage for girls in south India and to empower the girls and women living in poverty in India. We donate ten percent of profits to cover We CARE operational costs, and are in the process of establishing our own artisan studio and training facility to provide sustainable employment for the women and girls in rural South India. Our collections feature hand-woven raw silk which is then hand-dyed using all natural vegetable dyes by women artisans and differently-abled workers in India, based on centuries-old techniques handed down through generations. The luxury finishings, faux fur, recycled leather and eco-suede come from small mills in the US, France and Italy. Our clutches are assembled alongside some of the most-recognized fashion luxury labels in the world in New York Citys historic Garment District.Our brand name and logo is inspired by the emblem of India, which is an adaptation of four Asiatic lions standing back to back - symbolizing power, pride, confidence and courage. We have adopted these as pillars of our own brand, noting how the lions act as guardians, offering protection and support to one another and the community at large.
