- Barden was founded by Theodore Barth and Carl Norden (hence the name Bar-den) in 1942 to make precision ball bearings for the Norden bombsight. The bearings they manufactured were of exceptional quality, featuring tolerances beyond the scope of the technology then available. In 1991, Barden became affiliated with FAG, and now forms the nucleus of the Schaeffler's Aerospace Division. Included are facilities in Schweinfurt, Germany (FAG Aerospace GmbH & KG Co.), Stratford, Ontario, Canada (FAG Aerospace Inc.), Winsted, Connecticut (Winsted Precision Ball Company), Plymouth, England (Barden U.K. Limited), Singapore [FAG Aerospace (Singapore) Pte. Limited], and Taicang, Jiangsu Province, China [Schaeffler Aerospace Bearings (Taicang) Co., Limited]. Today, Barden/FAG/Schaeffler continues to meet the challenge of manufacturing and repair to aerospace, space and super-precise/super-critical tolerances, and is recognized as an industry leader in this achievement. As an AS 9100 certified company, excellence in manufacturing remains our guiding principle. Today, Barden's reputation as a world leader in the design and manufacture of deep groove and angular contact super precision spindle and instrument bearings is unsurpassed. Applications include machine tool, aircraft, special machinery and medical. The Barden FAA Repair Station license number is BCYR313X and the EASA Repair Station license number is EASA.145.6223. Barden sister companies of FAG Aerospace GmbH, FAG Aerospace, Inc. (Canada), and Barden UK, Limited, all have repair station licenses. A formal application for a repair station license is in place for FAG Aerospace (Singapore) Pte. Limited and a letter of intent has been submitted for a repair station license at Schaeffler Aerospace Bearings (Taicang) Co., Limited. OEM customers are served direct by Barden/FAG, MRO customers are served by a network of over 1,000 distributor locations.
