• The Medically Oriented Gym (the M.O.G.) is the first of its kind in Maine. At the M.O.G., we believe exercise is the best medicine. The South Portland M.O.G. is co-owned by a Clinical Exercise Physiologist, a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and a Physical Therapist. Our medically trained staff can work closely with doctors and other healthcare professionals and provide our members with the support, guidance and care they need and deserve.The M.O.G. is much more than an ordinary gym. Its unique, personalized approach to fitness accommodates any individual's needs. Some members have complex health concerns and are referred with an exercise prescription from their doctor or therapist to help improve their health. Others join because they want to lose weight and get stronger, but don't know where to start, and may feel overwhelmed when walking into a typical fitness facility. Athletes love the expertise of our staff and come to the M.O.G. to improve their performance and endurance. No matter why they join, all members receive a comprehensive review of health history and a personalized exercise program. Medically trained staff will track biometric health data, make regular adjustments to member's exercise programs, and provide reports to designated physicians as needed.
