• MissionThe mission of the Maryland Dental Action Coalition is to develop and maintain a statewide partnership of individuals committed to improved health among all Marylanders through increased oral health prevention, education, advocacy and access to dental care.Company OverviewThe Maryland Dental Action Coalition (MDAC) is an independent group committed to tackling issues affecting the oral health of Marylanders.HistoryThe Maryland Dental Action Coalition (MDAC) was first established as the Dental Action Committee (DAC) and convened in June of 2007 by Maryland Secretary of Health and Mental Hygiene (DHMH) John M. Colmers in the wake of the death of 12-year-old Deamonte Driver. Deamonte Driver died from an untreated tooth infection that spread to his brain. Since the recommendations were released, Governor OMalley, the Maryland General Assembly and DHMH have implemented many of the major Dental Action Committee recommendations. Access to dental care for underserved Maryland children has significantly improvedIn April 2010, the DAC transitioned into an independent coalition with a broadened mission, generously supported by the DentaQuest Foundation. Now known as MDAC, the coalition has organized to address issues concerning residents of all ages from all walks of life, aiming to increase access to oral health care, prevent oral disease, and improve oral health behaviors through health education and literacy.
