• The Jesse Tree of Idaho is a non-profit volunteer organization that prevents homelessness by keeping families/individuals housed as they overcome a temporary financial set-back. We do this by providing emergency rental assistance and case management to low income families/individuals who have an income stream and are currently housed but facing eviction because of a temporary financial crisis. The Jesse Tree of Idaho was founded in 1999 by the late Monsignor John Donoghue with the mission to Spread the message of God's mercy and love to those in need through prayer, word and deed. In 2001 the City of Boise recognized the Jesse Tree of Idaho for its ability to utilize community faith-based resources to deliver social services and identified our organization as a recipient of Community Development Block Grant Funds. With the Community Development Block Grant Funds, The Jesse Tree of Idaho administers the Emergency Rent and Assistance Program. This program helps clients avoid eviction, gain the skills necessary to communicate with landlords, develop positive strategies, become self-advocates and regain self-sufficiency in a stable living environment. On an average annually 200 direct applicants are served with roughly an additional 350 household members impacted. Since 2001 The Jesse Tree of Idaho has prevented over 6500 individuals from becoming homeless.. Volunteer Board Members guide the mission and activities of The Jesse Tree of Idaho. An on-site licensed Social Worker provides compassionate, effective client services, including case management and referrals. Numerous dedicated volunteers assist with screenings, applications, office functions, property inspection, outreach and development.
