• Brar Investment Capital, LLC is the investment advisor for Brar Investment Fund, LP (BIF), a fund that invests in value-oriented and special-situation equities such as spin-offs, bankruptcies, restructurings, and rights offerings. Great ideas are difficult to find. Our goal is to purchase businesses that sell for at least 50 cents on the dollar, or those with more than 100% upside on a two to three year view. We understand that stock represents an interest in a business, therefore we invest in a highly concentrated portfolio of about 10 securities that we deeply understand. This close eye on our birds nest gives us a chance to achieve healthy returns over time. Our distinctive investment methodology focuses on four pillars of our margin of safety analysis (SAVR): 1. Sustainability of the Business Model 2. Accountability of the management 3. Value of the investment 4. Risk factors Avoiding the loss of capital is our primary concern. We only invest in equities that can be purchased at a significant discount to their realistic value. The steeper the discount, or Margin of Safety, the higher the upside. Our investment method uncovers these opportunities by reviewing a significant amount of financial literature. This includes continuously reading annual reports, 13f filings, and related financial media. On the special situation side this includes reviewing upcoming corporate events such as spin-offs, emergence from bankruptcy, reorganizations, and rights offerings. Once identified, each opportunity is thoroughly evaluated, and its margin of safety calculated. We continuously test our margin of safety by utilizing our 90+ item investment checklist derived from mistakes of great investors such as Warren Buffett, Seth Klarman, Bruce Berkowitz, Peter Lynch, others. Only opportunities with the highest margin of safety are included in the concentrated portfolio. A high margin of safety protects against loss and maximizes returns.
