    • The Tahoe Regional Planning Agencys vision is for a Lake environment that is sustainable,healthy and safe for the community and future generations.Under the its Bi-State Compact, TRPA is directed to establishenvironmental threshold carrying capacities and to adopt andenforce a regional plan and implementing ordinances whichwill achieve and maintain such capacities while providingopportunities for orderly growth and development consistentwith such capacities, and to insure anequilibrium between the regions natural endowment and itsmanmade environment.. As a regional planning organization for Lake Tahoe, TRPAsmost strategic role is as a partnership builder for delivery ofenvironmental gain. TRPA works across a multiplicity of jurisdictionswith concurrent responsibility and overlapping authoritywhose interests differ across legal boundary lines. TRPAsstrategic role is to weave together a successful environmentaltapestry of interests consistent with competing politicaldemands. Only by building the necessarily broad partnershipsthat can deliver action needed to achieve tangibleenvironmental gain will the Region ever reach and maintain asustainable foundation.
