• The Vermont Youth Conservation Corps (VYCC) is a statewide, year-round, nonprofit conservation and education organization with a mission to teach individuals to take personal responsibility for all their actions. Since our founding in 1985, the VYCC has served more than 5,500 young people from every county and nearly every town in Vermont. Today, the VYCC is Vermonts leading environmental and educational organization that provides inspiring and rewarding work opportunities for young people.We accomplish our mission by forming small teams of young people to work with highly-trained adult leaders and to complete meaningful work in communities throughout the state. Well known for its high-quality work and education programs, VYCC projects have a lasting impact on public land in ways that benefit Vermonters for years to come. VYCCs programs are designed to challenge, nurture, and teach. Our three main programs include a six-month conservation program, a school program for at-risk students, and a working farm that provides food for food-insecure Vermonters. While our primary focus is in Vermont, VYCC Crews can travel nationally, as was the case in helping with Hurricane Katrina Recovery. In 2013, we are setting up the North Carolina YCC and we anticipate a larger national presence in the years to come.
