• MissionTo develop and train dancers in Black dance traditions, expand knowledge and contributions of Black Dance traditions and create emerging dance artists who will sustain Black dance in the Black community. HDATs developmentally designed curriculum is rooted in Black traditions of dance.HistoryHill Dance Academy Theatre (HDAT) Home of Ju.B.Lation: Spirit Filled Feet: founded in 2005, developed out of Ayisha Morgan-Lees passion to insure that children, ages 3 to 18 years old, who would not otherwise dance or have an opportunity to dance would be able to dance with HDAT. Ayisha went to a Black church, in the Hill community, Grace Memorial Presbyterian, and held dance classes for nine months, for twenty children ages, 3 to 6 years old. Although grateful for the space it was not adequate for program growth. In 2007, with the help of Pittsburgh City Parks and Recreation, Ayisha moved HDAT in West Penn Recreation Center. Also in 2007, HDAT established Ju.B.Lation: Spirit Filled Feet, a multi-generational Liturgical dance company that uses Sacred Dance as the artistic voice to celebrate the Cultural and Spiritual traditions of the Black Church experience. In the summer of 2008, HDAT held its first Spirit, Mind and Body 7 Week Summer Dance Intensive. The Intensive was successful with dancers enrolled from 8am - 5pm, Monday - Friday. In April of 2010 HDAT received its 501c3 non-profit status.
