• In 1912, the company was organized by Douglass W. King and originally operated in the grain brokerage industry. After realizing the potential of the seed business the Company moved to San Antonio in 1917 and began dealing in pasture grasses, wheat, oats, rye, open-pollinated forages and cowpeas. In the 1970s Douglass King took its first steps into the international seed market. Through the years the company has developed many loyal customers in Italy, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Mexico, Japan, Argentina and South Africa. Many of the original associations continue today as a result of Douglass King Company consistent high quality products, service and export expertise. Today, Douglass King offers a wide variety of grasses for land improvement and restoration and is constantly adding items to meet the needs of their customers. The company is known for maintaining one of the most complete inventories of the highest quality seed available.Douglass King has been involved in a number of major projects including the San Antonio River Mission Reach Project, the George W. Bush Presidential Library in Dallas, TX, Blue Wing Solar Project and drill sites associated with the restoration in the restoration in the oil and gas industry in south Texas, and countless projects on military bases and highway right-of-ways.The commitment to quality, product development, integrity, and customer dedication has become standard.
