Aloha Community Library Association

Description

• AboutAloha is one of the most populous unincorporated areas in Oregon (49, 425 residents according to the 2010 US Census) without a library. While the neighboring cities of Hillsboro and Beaverton have two libraries each, Aloha has no community library. In February 2011, interested members of CPO-6 (Citizen Participation Organization 6), made up of residents in Aloha, Reedville and Cooper Mt., met together and formed the Aloha Community Library Association (ACLA). The ACLA filled its Articles of Incorporation in August 2011. It is registered as a non-profit organization in the State of Oregon and received its 501(c)(3) qualification from the IRS in early 2012.In 1912, the Aloha Post Office was established. One hundred years later, in September 2012, the Aloha Community Library Association opened the first community library in the Bales Thriftway Shopping Center at the intersection of Farmington and Kinnaman roads. ACLA is governed by an eleven member Board of Directors and is comprised of a number of dedicated community volunteers who have made the Aloha Community Library a reality.
