• Footpath Foundation is an IRS designated 501(c)3 Non-Profit Corporation (Tax ID: 47-5560117) in good standing since the effective date of exemption, November 5, 2015, co-founded by Mary Macias (President) and Sarah Tabeling (Vice President).Footpath Foundation is a Cleveland nonprofit that believes every kid should have the opportunity to reach their fullest potential in life. We aim to give underprivileged and at-risk kids this opportunity by introducing them to positive outdoor experiences they wouldnt otherwise have access to, with a focus on enriching summer camp programs. Research shows that this generation of children is spending less time outside than ever before. Inner city kids have even bigger challenges preventing them from getting out in nature and exploring freely. Access to green spaces enhances peace, self-control, and self-discipline within inner city youth (Taylor, Kuo & Sullivan Study, 2001). Nature is crucial to childrens development in every way and enhances creativity, problem solving and social skills. By sending at-risk kids to summer camp they engage in an array of outdoor activities that cultivate the whole child and empowers them to thrive. The program works with other nonprofits to connect children in need with local outdoor spaces and summer camps. Footpath raises the funds necessary to send these kids to various camps and helps to coordinate inspiring programs. In addition, Footpath educates and advocates to communities and corporations about the challenges at-risk children face each day and the importance of nature in their lives. Footpath engages them to help improve the lives of Clevelands youth through fundraising and volunteering.
