• A major supplier of shell inlay products since 1967 to both small instrument shops and large factories (and other industries). Along with Jean Sifel of Pearlworks (www.pearlworks.com), we hold three U.S. patents on laminated shell, known as ABALAM or GRAVLAM. In addition to the 5.5 x 9.5 laminate sheets, we also supply shell as paper-thin veneer sheets, traditional-style solid flat blanks, 21 sizes of dots in 7 materials (including buffalo horn and fossil walrus ivory), 166 types/sizes of straight and curved strips (in both solid and ABALAM), Martin-style pearl herringbone strips (as in the C.F. Martin Eric Clapton and D-50 guitars), shell pickguards, pearl string nuts, and several types of crushed shell flakes. Other products include Teflon strips (used in installing the shell strips), mastodon ivory slabs/nuts/saddles, inlay instruction books and videos, and black engraving filler. We have a full line of high tech but completely hand fabricated synthetic inlay materials which greatly expand the palette of colors and effects available for inlay, marquetry, and craft projects. Very importantly, these materials avoid all the import/export regulations and fees associated with international movements of products containing natural shell. DichroLam and OpalLam are designed to visually do everything that mother of pearl and abalone do without being misidentified as shell by federal port authorities.
