• Operation Fresh Start has provided comprehensive employment and training services to 7,000 youth and adults in Dane County, Wisconsin since 1970. Operation Fresh Start provides disconnected youth a path to self-sufficiency.Through our core programming, 130 youth annually are working toward their high school diploma, learning job skills, developing career goals and strategies to achieve them, and serving their communities by building homes or working on conservation crews. In the process, these young people fundamentally change their lives and roles in society. As Dane Countys premier employment, education, and training program for disconnected youth ages 16-24, Operation Fresh Start addresses the core issues facing Dane County communities: education, employment, crime prevention, affordable housing and leadership development. For a modest funding match, almost all units of government and non-profit organizations can sponsor an OFS crew. Eligible project sponsors include school districts, lake associations, environmental groups, historical societies and more.OFS is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization.
