• Maker Eds mission is to create more opportunities for all young people to develop confidence, creativity, and interest in science, technology, engineering, math, art, and learning as a whole through making.--In 2009, President Obama announced the Educate to Innovate Initiative to move American students from the middle to the top of the pack in science and math achievement over the next decade. In response to that call to action, the Maker Education Initiative (Maker Ed) was founded in 2012 by Dale Dougherty leader of the Maker Movement, Executive Chairman of Maker Media, and creator of Make: Magazine and Maker Faire.Since then, Maker Ed has made incredible progress in its mission to create more opportunities for all young people to develop confidence, creativity, and interest in science, technology, engineering, math, art, and learning as a whole through making. In less than three years, weve worked with educators, youth-serving organizations, and communities nationwide to strengthen their capacity to engage youth of all backgrounds in making.
