• Looney Math Consulting (LMC) has been in existence since 1996, offering professional development programs to support school districts throughout Massachusetts and beyond. Each year, LMC supports over 600 teachers from over 20 districts. Dr. Susan Looney is the lead consultant for LMC. She plans, organizes, and supports all professional development, with a highly professional team of educators. Dr. Looney holds a doctorate in Curriculum and Teaching with a specialty in Mathematics Education from Boston University. LMC works with districts to achieve their goals for staff development in mathematics education. LMC consultants get to know each district and their teachers personally, often serving as a district's math specialist. Most districts make a multi-year commitment to improving their state of mathematics education, allowing us to build rapport with both administration and staff. LMC is deeply committed to supporting the process of change. Our consultants work closely with administration to develop a plan that is appropriate and tailored to each districts individual needs. This takes many forms including workshops and graduate level course work, coaching, program evaluations, demonstration lessons, and aligning district level assessments to the state curriculum frameworks and national standards.
