• The Children's Guild, Inc. was incorporated in 1953 as a not-for -profit 501c(3), tax-exempt organization. Today the Childrens Guild is a leader in providing education, mental health and child welfare services to the Baltimore and DC communities. The children and families become a part of The Childrens Guild continuum of care due to a multitude of life circumstances and challenges. These include poverty, severe trauma, substance abuse, domestic violence, mental illness, as well as autism and physical and/or learning disabilities. Our mission is to teach children the values and life skills necessary for a successful life, one filled with caring, contribution and commitment, empowering each child with: · The vision to see opportunity within adversity and the value of setting ideals to reach.· The courage to try and the value of accepting obstacles as challenges to meet.· The will to succeed and the value of making the commitment to persevere.Programs and Services include: Special Education Day Schools, School to Work, Autism Spectrum Program, Treatment Foster Care, Group Living Academy, Public Charter Schools, School Based Mental Health, Outpatient Mental Health Centers, as well as training and consultation services.All of The Children's Guild programs are guided by Transformation Education, or TranZed, an organizational philosophy and operation system for child-serving organizations. TranZed helps The Children's Guild create a flexible, brain-compatible organizational culture that emphasizes the values, skills and beliefs necessary for a successful life, one of caring, contribution and commitment. As part of that philosophy, The Children's Guild focuses on transforming the mindset and actions of its teachers, clinicians, and staff rather than trying to focus on changing the behavior of its students.
