• Protonex is a leading provider of advanced fuel cell and intelligent power management products for portable, remote and mobile applications in the 50 to 5,000-watt range. Protonex ships rugged, reliable power and data solutions designed for end-users in military, commercial and consumer markets that are currently underserved by batteries and small generators. Protonex also provides power solutions for OEM customers looking to integrate high-performance fuel cell power, battery charging, and power management into their products and applications. Working with the US Air Force, Army, and marine Corps, Protonex has developed a family of intelligent power managers: Very small soldier carried or worn devices which take a variety of power inputs, and convert that energy into a form usable by the soldier to power his suite of gear. Based on a conservative estimate of primary battery savings, deployment of intelligent soldier-based power management can save a typical infantry battalion $5M in two years a 200% return on investment. Simultaneously, soldier carry-weight and bulk is reduced, while equipment availability is enhanced. In addition, Protonex produces the Advanced Battery Charger, or ABC. Designed to replace current outdated military battery chargers, the ABC recharges batteries twice as fast and uses half the fuel. Protonex also produces the commercially available P200i Fuel Cell. Designed for extreme temperatures and minimal maintenance, the P200i is designed for remote signaling, communications, and sensors. In 2015, the Protonex Technology Corporation was acquired by Ballard Power Systems as a wholly-owned subsidiary.
