Open Dental is Open Source. This means anyone can download our source code and develop features for Open Dental users. Most of all, we want to provide intuitive and efficient software that can fit the needs of any dental practice. Open Dental is the most affordable practice management of it's caliber. We believe in equalizing the market. In the past, dentists have only had expensive, poor quality options for software. We believe in low margins and quality software at a price that all dentists can afford. Today's dentists graduate with an average of $300,000 of student debt, many cannot afford the huge price tags that come with other software options, and we understand this reality. Open Dental uses a robust MySQL database. This is an open source platform that gives users control and ownership of their data. Users can access ALL of their data and have the ability to run endless reports through customizable queries. Open Dental support is outstanding. We pride ourselves on our customer service.
