- Our love and passion for great wine has grown from making home based wine to starting a small business in addition to our day jobs. We have made over 1000 bottles over the past few years including Cabernet, Chardonnay, Barolo, Riesling, Malbec, Moscato, Zinfandel, Amorone, Port, Gewurztraminer, Liebfraumilch, and Nebbiolo. Cat-n-Bird is being set up as a Micro Winery, specializing in wine batches from 50 bottles to 1000. In order to realize this dream, we bought a small farm in Chelsea, AL (just outside of Birmingham) and are currently renovating one of the floors to a 2200+ sq ft wine production, cellar, storage, and wine tasting room. Currently we are deep into the legal process of setting up the winery includingFederal, State, County, City, ABC Board, health inspections, building codes, wine labels approval, working with current vineyards on supply, ordering equipment, etc etc etc. Lots of paperwork. For those of you in Birmigham, feel free to drop in pre-opening to see the renovations taking place.
