• PoleStar provides business owners with transition strategies and exit planning services that help them successfully move on to the next chapter of their lives while achieving their personal and financial goals. We focus on building transferable business value to maximize the purchase price and produce favorable deal terms while focusing on the legacy the business owner wishes to leave behind. Ideally, we start working with business owners that would like to be fully transitioned within one to three years and find that most will transition within 18 months to two years. We begin by performing a Retirement Readiness Assessment that includes a business valuation and retirement feasibility analysis. This gives us the starting point and defines the finish line. We then focus on devising a plan to close the gap. This likely involves getting the Company salable similar to making the right improvements before putting a house up for sale. We largely focus on the value drivers that will diminish or eliminate an earn-out which we strongly advise against. It will also involve exploring different transition options both internal and external. We specialize in internal transitions which are difficult mostly because key employees (i) don't usually have the funds (ii) aren't bankable and (iii) may not have the leadership skills to run the company successfully even if they have the technical skills. We have developed a unique strategy to address these issues. In third-party transactions, we have developed partnerships that help us find the right financial or strategic buyer. We work with our partners during the transaction and stay involved long after it closes assisting with tax planning. We love what we do.
