Demonstrating its commitment to environmental sustainability, the two newest schools meet national green standards and are certified as LEED Silver and LEED Gold by the U.S. Green Building Council.North Kansas City Schools prepares students to be successful in a changing world. To do this well means engaging students in a learning climate that values innovation, respect, high expectations, shared decision making, diversity of thought and a global perspective.All four high schools are designated as A+ Schools by the state, allowing students who meet academic, attendance and citizenship criteria to receive two years of college tuition reimbursement from the State of Missouri. Each high school offers the Distinguished Achievement Program which includes the Gold Medallion diploma option, dual credit classes and AP courses. High school students also can elect to participate in the rigorous International Baccalaureate diploma program or choose one of the specialized study options such as the Cerner Scholars program, the Information Technology Academy, or the Automotive Technology program.Younger students benefit from full-day kindergarten, gifted education, 5th grade strings, middle school extended-day programs, a summer enrichment program, and elementary before- and after-school childcare.
