• Liberian Awards promotes the academic and professional development of Liberian youths in the Diaspora by recognizing Liberian professionals excelling in the Diaspora and by providing scholarships to students attending accredited U.S. colleges. Liberian Awards is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that addresses the void of awareness and mentorship. The founder of Liberian Awards, Samantha Divine Jallah immigrated to the United States from Liberia as a refugee student. She was hopeful and eager to begin her education here. However, her experience was difficult--she worked several jobs because she was unable to find a scholarship to fully support herself in college. Samantha started Liberian Awards to give to those what she lacked when she immigrated: mentorship, encouragement, and financial support. Liberian Awards opens up a world of possibilities to those driven to achieve all that they can in the United States. We have accomplished a lot, but we need your help to accomplish even more.We have already touched 12 students in four years, 9 of which are female students. By the end of the year, 8 of our students will have graduated from college. We have recognized over 30 Liberians and businesses. We have given students nearly $8,000 in scholarships and educational resources and held over 12 mentoring sessions with students. We are a young organization looking for volunteers in the areas of social media, event planning, performance (song, poetry, art), videography, photography, fundraising, and marketing. The majority of our needs conveniently fit within anyone's schedule.
