• PlatteForum is an award-winning youth-development center and artist-in-residence program in Denver that matches underserved youth with master artists in intensive, structured, and long-term creative learning environments. Using arts-based learning as a vehicle, youth have access to a safe environment in which they explore events in their lives, take risks, create and present art, receive critical feedback, learn from professional artists and their peers, learn to work as part of a team, and develop personal, academic, and life skills that stay with them forever. Youth engaged in PlatteForums programs vastly improve in the areas of self-confidence, academic performance, college readiness, community involvement, leadership, and more. PlatteForum is the only program of its kind in the United States and is the recipient of the 2011 National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award (National Endowment for the Arts and the National Endowment for Humanities). We offer numerous opportunities for volunteering that include helping with fundraising and administrative tasks; spending a day or a few hours helping install an exhibit, painting, or setting up for an opening; tutoring youth in various school subjects, mentoring youth through Learning Lab assistance, or serving as a college readiness mentor for older youth; donating art supplies, and much more.
