How I Decide Foundation

Description

• In the past few decades great strides have been made in understanding how people make decisions, and where many of the pitfalls lie. Decision biases, faulty logic and the challenges of dealing with uncertainty are all much better understood. But we still lack insight in how to overcome these pitfalls. How I Decide Foundation is dedicated to improving the understanding of the causes of poor quality decisions, and more importantly, developing methods to improve decision skill. Our mission is to improve decision skills in youth by helping kids learn to be mindful of their decision opportunities, develop self- control and think clearly and critically. We are a non- profit start-up with an approach is grounded in decision science and strong support from business, academic and educational professionals. Our goal is to create content for students in middle and high school for use both in school and in out- of-school time programs. We take a broad approach to enhancing skills, using such techniques as Mindfulness training and game play (both digital and analog) as core elements of our programming. Our initial efforts are focused on urban middle school students in disadvantaged neighborhoods including Philadelphia and Washington, DC. . Our Board and Advisory Board cover a wide range of disciplines from Poker to Decision Science, authors to educators, software developers and entrepreneurs.
