• G1ve a Buck Fund is devoted to raising awareness of Childhood Cancer, engaging the community, and funding Childhood Cancer Research. Over two years have passed since our journey with cancer began. Then, Kate was a vibrant 12 year old soccer player. Now, not a day goes by that we don't see and feel its effects - It has changed all of our lives forever. Personally, I have been gifted a drive and passion to make a difference in this world of Childhood Cancer. My dream is that one day no parent will ever hear the words your child has cancer. I can vividly remember the exact moment the word CANCER changed our lives forever. I have replayed THAT moment in my head so many times. That moment will be with me forever, as it is for every parent who hears those words. We are reminded seemingly daily of how quickly the life of a child and family can change when diagnosed with this terrible disease, as we hear of children who are afflicted every day. It has also been a reminder that there is so much more that needs to be done to bring awareness to Childhood Cancer. Chidlhood Cancer Facts - all types of childhood cancers combined receive only 4% of U.S. federal funding for cancer research. -about 60% of all funding for drug development in adult cancers comes from pharmaceutical companies. For kids? Almost none, because childhood drugs are not profitable. -only 2 chemo therapy drugs have been approved by the FDA for childhood cancers in the last 20 years. - 1 in 5 kids with cancer will die - the average number of years of life lost to children with cancer... 71 THESE NUMBERS NEED TO CHANGE, and that is why G1ve A Buck Fund was founded. The basic idea is simple. If one person gives one dollar for cancer research, the effects of that dollar are hard to see. Now, what if a million people gave a buck?
