He has been a leader in supporting the research and the awareness building promotion for the bioactive/phytonutrient-driven health properties of colorful fruits and veggies. Marketing the Health and Color Power of Phytonutrients in Fruits and Veggies The Food and Wellness Group (FWG) created a branded marketing initiative called The Colors of Health, a color-guided, goal-oriented, marketing initiative designed to actively engage people in buying and eating a colorful variety of fruits and vegetables in all forms, to help them achieve the DGA recommended 5 Cups a Day for better health. The Colors of Health features The Color Way ... a five color-coded guidance system based upon "The Color Code" book that introduced and detailed the healthy and colorful science-based world of bioactives/ phytochemicals/phytonutrients delivered by fruits and veggies. The Color Way Guidance System was initially created by the FWG team and introduce nationally in 2002 as part of a campaign by the Produce for Better Health Foundation (PBH). The Color Way as well as the 5 A Day message were both phased out by PBH following the increased quantity recommendations issued by the 2005-2010 DGA's for fruits and veggies. The Colors of Health and The Color Way are registered trademarks of the Food and Wellness Group.
