• In mid-2014, Big River Steel boldly began setting new expectations for the steel industry when we broke ground on a $1.3 billion flex mill, combining the best of integrated mills capabilities with the nimbleness of a mini mill.Looking far beyond the status quo, Big River Steel is committed to exploring the limits of whats possible. When operational in mid-2016, the worlds first flex mill (combining the capabilities of an integrated mill with the nimbleness of a mini mill) will produce 1.7 million tons annually of hot-rolled, pickled and oiled, cold-rolled and galvanized coil. We will rapidly ramp-up our capabilities to produce many of the most demanding niche steels currently undersupplied in the US market. Accomplishing this will require a new way of doing business, a new wave of technologies and, most importantly, a new generation of inventive steel technicians.The future of steel is only limited by our imagination.
