- Birmingham natives Jim King and Travis McGowin together have more than 80 years in the mortgage business here. When they founded McGowin-King Mortgage in 1998, they did so with a simple goal in mind: to build a business on relationships, and to foster those relationships with integrity, trust, and community involvement. Every loan weve brokered since that founding has been anchored in these beliefs.Now, our team has grown. Jims son, Jimbo, joined the company in 2006, and Travis son, Warner, joined in 2011. With a group of 14 originators, processors, and staff, we pursue a simple philosophy: We believe that when you exceed a customers expectations, you build a relationship. Thats much more than just a transaction. It means were here before, during, and after your loan or HECM process. It means were your advocate during one of the biggest financial decisions of your life. It means we want to do business with you again, and were willing to work hard to earn it.
