• AFO supports Oregon's quality of life and creates awareness of our designed environment through education, advocacy, philanthropy and inspiration.For 30 years, the architecture foundation of oregon has worked with many partners to foster a culture that understands and appreciates good design, its impact and its relationship with nature.The world has become more homogenized, but Oregon cherishes its distinctiveness. Oregon design and construction professionals have created a built environment that is very particular to the Northwest and its natural magnificence. afo helps identify, preserve and further that distinct sense of place.afo has a strong record of collaborating with partners, of initiating or supporting innovative projects. Some facts and numbers that help illustrate our story:~ A 2010 survey of architecture foundations found afo to be the fourth largest and most active in the nation.~ afo has allocated more than $900,000 in support of our popular statewide Architects in Schools program.~ A week long forum and exhibit, Crossing the Columbia: What Does It Mean? produced with the independent design collective PDXplore at the Pacific Northwest College of Art, drew 500 people to learn about this complex project and its impacts.~ In partnership with the Van Evera and Janet M. Bailey Fund of The Oregon Community Foundation, afo has awarded fifteen $20-$25,000 Van Evera Bailey Fellowships to mid-career architects.~ From AIA Gold-Medal architect Pietro Belluschi to Senator Mark O.
