- Spring-Genetics is an aquatic breeding company producing broodstock based on selective breeding programs. Our tilapia strain is marketed under the brand name Spring-Tilapia®. The company was established in 2009 and is the production arm of Akvaforsk Genetic Center AS (www.afgc.no), the worlds largest R&D & Consultancy group on selective breeding programs for aquaculture species. The group has been essential in developing the genetic material used in salmon production world wide, as well as for the GIFT material for Tilapia in Asia. From our state-of-the art Breeding Nucleus centrally located in South-Florida, we supply our hatcheries in the Americas with highly selected genetic material which in turn distribute Spring-Tilapia® fingerlings to grow-out farmers.
