- We the People Project is a non-profit dedicated to achieving equal rights for the 4.7 million Americans who live in U.S. territories and the District of Columbia. We the People Project's mission is simple: equal citizenship, equal rights, and equal representation for all Americans, no matter where you live. Ending the second-class status of Americans in the territories and DC requires new ideas and a new civil rights movement.
